Quiz: Do you have the Gift of the Gab?
5 Quick Questions
in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated the world over, and it's quite amazing how many people find that they have a little Irish in them - or at least the become Irish for a day.

The Irish are famous for the "Gift of the Gab", which can talk them either into or out of trouble!

Here is a quick quiz to gauge your Gift of the Gab Quota.

1. Do you write circle letters (a, o, and the circle part of d and g) with the circle open, closed or a mixture.

An open circle letter is like an open mouth ... it means you are inclined to talk.

All closed circle letters do not of course mean you never talk, but just that you are not generally talkative.

A mixture is best.  It means you can talk some of the time, and listen some of the time.

2. Are you passionate about the things you love?

Passion is shown in the heaviness of the writing.

Heavy writing (ie heavy pressure on the page) means you take things deeply to heart, so have passion.

Very light line writing means that although you may feel passionate in the moment, you are unlikely to retain that feeling over a long period of time. This is good when it comes to the passion of a grudge!

3. Does your passion show when you talk?

It's all very well to feel passionate but no-one will know about it unless you let it show.

Expression of feelings, including passion, show in the slant of the writing.

The farther the slant is to the right, the more the feelings of the writer will show.

Upright writing = cool, calm and collected.

Backhand writing = holding feeling in.

4. Is your conversation creative and imaginative?

Some conversation is so creative and imaginative that it is difficult to know what to believe, but in general terms, imagination makes conversation more interesting.

Abstract imagination, or the coming up with ideas, shows in upper loops on the letters b,f, h,l and k.  The larger the loops the greater the imagination.

By the time the loops are considerably wider than the rest of the letter, the imagination has become unreal and caution is needed in believing what you hear.

5. Does the writer show humor?

Humor, or a good sense of fun, is shown in a curvy line going into the m or n  .
When that line has a sharp point as it joins the letter, it is a dry sense of humor.
Another kind of humor is wit, which is sometimes shown in mild sarcasm.  Sarcasm shows where the ends of the t-bars, where the pen is lifted from the paper, is feathered, becoming narrower and eventually fading out.

Article: Do you talk Logic, Emotion or Imagination.

Sometimes it is better to talk logically and openly, sometimes emotion and imagination are better.  So no one trait is best for everything.

Consider giving a talk of tax preparation, budgeting or accounting of any kind.  Giving an emotional, imagination filled presentation would be totally inappropriate.  Perhaps the phrase "creative bookkeeping" would surface around such a talk.

This is the time for the purely logical, the practical, the blunt, direct, straight to the point information.

Take out the feelings, dispense with any imaginings and stick to the facts.

In business in general, logic works best.

Many people who are very emotional and imagination learn to express themselves logically and directly in business.  Many even become very adept at expressing their feelings and ideas in such logical terms that they sound like pure logic.

In a totally different situation, there are many times when logic is too cold, and directness too blunt.

In a relationship, for example, or when someone is very upset and needs reassurance, this is the time for emotion, empathy and even a little imagination thrown in.

Most people adapt quite naturally to the circumstances, but by knowing which type of conversationalist you are, you can be alert for situations where you might be inclined to go with your natural trait inappropriately.  This is the time to stop and think how best to present yourself gauged to the situation in hand.

Interestingly enough, it is the depth of emotion and expressiveness that are the commonest in relationship problems.

The heavy line writer does not understand why the light line writer is not still upset days after a fight. The light line writer cannot understand why the heavy line writer can't just let it go.

The upright or backhand slant writer may love with all their heart and yet be unable to express it, which will not be understood by the far right slant writer to whom emotional expression is a way of life.

Just understanding the differences can help.
